Blessy Varghese is part of the MSCI research team that focuses on corporate ESG models. She supports backtesting and simulation efforts for the MSCI ESG Ratings Model. Prior to joining MSCI, Blessy contributed extensively toward underprivileged-child education, as a volunteer with multiple nongovernmental organizations. Blessy holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University and completed postgraduate certification in data analytics.

    “Deconglomeration” in the 1980s signaled a shift to corporate specialization, particularly in the U.S. We found that diversified firms have tended to lag the profitability and growth of their single-industry counterparts.
