Carbon-Neutral Fossil-Fuel Claims: 1Q 2022 Update

This quarter’s carbon-neutral fossil-fuels report shows a significant drop in the number of shipments claiming carbon-neutral status. Only four shipments were recorded in Q1 compared to six in 4Q21 and fifteen in 3Q21. The Ukraine war may have had some influence on this decline, but the increase in carbon-credit prices over the last six months of 2021 may also have deterred some fuel suppliers from using carbon offsets.
